WWW Wednesday #8 – 24 March 2021

We’re back for another midweek reading check-in with WWW Wednesday.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam A. Stevens on Taking on a World of Words.

The three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’re read next?

The Legacy by Caroline Bond

One of my current Pigeonhole reads. When Jonathan Coulter dies he leaves three children, an ex-wife and a current partner. His will leaves everything to his children, but only allows them to bury him once they’ve agreed what to do with the rest of his estate.

Tall Bones by Anna Bailey

Started on Pigeonhole today. The disappearance of 17-year-old Abi sends shockwaves through her small town opening up old wounds and grudges.

Influential Internal Communication by Jenni Field

There are some useful tips and a solid framework for bringing calm to chaos inside organisations. Helpful as businesses look to what happens next after a year of largely homeworking.

Mirrorland by Carole Johnstone

Another Pigeonhole read. This was a really strong start, and I am totally invested in seeing what happens. Twins El and Cat used to be as close as could be, but 12 years ago something happened that made Cat flee her sister and escape to another continent. Now she’s back in Edinburgh and El is missing. Is the answer to where El’s gone locked in their past and their childhood play world of Mirrorland?

Dare to Lead by Brené Brown

This is my current audiobook listen. Some of the language grates, one of those cases where management speak gets in the way of good ideas. But, looking beyond this there are some really good pieces of advice about not letting a fear of failure or of being honest stop you being brave enough to try.

Girl in the Walls by AJ Gnuse

A brilliant book. Part fairytale, part thriller. It’s a slow start, but that build up made me really care about the characters when the real danger comes. Full review.

Remain Silent by Susie Steiner

I couldn’t connect with the lead detective in this UK crime thriller, which reduced my enjoyment of this story. Full review.

Becoming by Michelle Obama

Loved this autobiography of the former First Lady. Full review.

Later by Stephen King

Another brilliant read from my favourite author. This had elements of The Shining and It, but with a fresh take. Full review.

The Girls Inside by NJ Mackay

What Beauty There Is by Cory Anderson

Another two books on Pigeonhole due to start this week. Given the number of instalments left on my other Pigeonhole books I think this will be an all Pigeonhole reading week.

Have you read any of these? Do you have any recommendations for me to add to my TBR list? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
