WWW Wednesday #42 – 26 January 2022

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam A. Stevens on Taking on a World of Words.

The three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’re read next?

The House of Footsteps by Mathew West

I’m about a third of the way through this gothic novel with online book club Pigeonhole. It’s starting to pull me in so hopefully it will continue to up the suspense factor.

The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood

I haven’t read any of this, this week.

Reputation Management by Tony Langham

I’ve decided I’m going to tackle my non-fiction TBR shelves by spending 30 minutes a day reading those. Starting with this guide to reputation management. The book is told through a series of short essays and interviews which makes it really easy to read although I’ve not yet noted down any directly practical applications.

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

Re-reading this by audiobook as an alternative to podcasts when I want to switch off while walking the dog.

The Great Silence by Doug Johnstone

My review.

The Couple at the Table by Sophie Hannah

I DNF’d this one about a quarter of the way in. I couldn’t get on board with the narrative style – it just felt like the characters were rabbiting on about nothing and not moving the narrative forward at all.

The Herd by Emily Edwards

The first two staves have been released on online book club Pigeonhole, but I haven’t started reading it yet.

Power Hour by Adrienne Herbert

I’m reading this as an Instagram readalong with Tandem Collective. Due to start tomorrow.

We Know You Remember by Tove Alsterdal

I’ve over committed on Pigeonhole books again, but there are too many good choices! This one starts on Friday.

Have you read any of these? Do you have any recommendations for me to add to my TBR list? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.

  1. I also tend to juggle quite a few books. It used to be one for the car, one to read on the subway to work (now I drive), one near my bed, one downstairs. Now, I also seem to have several that are probably going to turn into DNF. I have tried to like Sophie Hannah but really do not care for her style. And lots of my friends love Terry Prachett but I like YA fantasy better than adult. However, the Marlow Murder Club looks right up my alley!

  2. We apparently have random tastes, because I just added Murder Club and Power Hour to my TBR. lol I’m interested to know what Power Hour is going to consist of. I have heard of the tool of using a power hour to get small things accomplished that normally we put aside. My husband and I do power hours every now and then to accomplish household tasks that we keep putting off doing. Anyway, I enjoyed your list of books! Have a great week! My WWW:
